Hello All. So today when I went to clean out the 1999 V70 Wagon I noticed that it was wet unter the floormat. I dont know if its water or coolant. Ive done a bit of research here on the forums and it looks like its pointing to the heater core needing to be replaced.
Few questions:
1- Is this a hard job to replace? (Im pretty handy with small repairs)
2- Costs, how much will this run in terms of parts.
3- What parts will I need and where to buy them. Will I need gaskets or do they come with the core. Ive seen the parts on FCP & eBay but want opinions on where to buy them from.
4. I wont be able to repair this until after the holidays, will I be safe until then?
Wet under floormat on Drivers side 99 V70
Just did my s70 last week. It took aprox 1.5 hrs but I took my time so plan on about an hour. I ordered from IPDusa

You can wait till you have time but you will have to add fluid from time to time and put up with the steamed windows and smell. And make sure you order silicone o rings not the original rubber.

On a scale of 1 wrench being easiest and five wrenches being most difficult, a heater core replacement is a 2 wrench job. Toughest aspect is draining the cooling system in my opinion. You can easily do this job yourself.

after I pinched both hoses in the engine compartment with visegrips , I followed some advice and put two garbage bags together and put them under the core to collect the coolant from the outlets. No Muss, No Fuss.
Ok sounds good enough for me. Seems pretty simple and will try to do it before the holidays while we have this 60-70 degree days in NC. Also what coolant should I use, watched th evideo on IPD and said to make sure to use the proper coolant. Im so used to buying coolant from the local Autozone for our other vehicles.
