ABS Module 2001 S60

First post.
My 2001 S60 (120K miles) is spitting out a code that the Volvo dealer I went to indicates that I need to have my ABS module replaced. They want $1,150 to do the work and are 3 hrs away. I bought an aftermarket ABS module, but the problem with getting it installed locally is the (apparently) proprietary software needed to calibrate (?) the new module.

Anyway out of this?
I'm sure my local mechanic could do the install if he had access to the proper software.

Get it installed, and then Drive to the dealer to get te software caliberated. What do u mean by aftermarket abs module? Is it the same manufacturer as the unit it replaced? If its a differnt unit maybe the dealer cant do it. Was ur abs not

What code was stored? What was the part number on the old unit?
