S 80 purchase

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

S 80 purchase

Post by nordictom »

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the site & I'm glad I found it, just in time. :D

My question for the experts is, I am looking to buy a Volvo for my daughter, (btw, she just got a licence). I have come across a clean 2000 S80, but it has a blown head gasket. Is this a car I should think about buying? I am very mechanically inclined, & thanks to the info on this site, I probably could fix the head gasket over a weekend. The seller wants $1400.
Just looking for honest feedback.......

Thanks in advance

Ok, so I go & look at the car..............
First the guy tells me he's been driving it with a coolant loss issue for about 5 month's. Then had it checked out about a month ago, blown head gasket for sure. chocolate milk for engine oil.... he could have at least cleaned out the inside.......

I'll keep looking.

I love my S80. It is a 2001 non turbo with 155000 miles. I bought it a a year ago with 127000 miles and have had no problems but will be doing alot of maintenance soon. Stay away from the turbo S80.

Avoid S80's from 99-01... You'll be glad you did :-) (own experience)
