I am the second owner of this car which I purchased from Gengras Volvo in East Hartford, CT in April of 2002.
It had 42k on it when I bought it and the car was at that point very clean and had been maintained by the dealer. It was sold to the original owner by the same dealership, I have the records for this.

Overall I would say the condition is above average, especially considering the mileage. The body has no major dents or scratches, the paint shines nicely. It has just been polished (clay bar first, then orbital polisher) and waxed. There are 3 very minor dings, 2 on each fender, 1 by the fuel door. There are also a few minor scratches, hardly noticeable. During my time of ownership the car has seen about 2/3 of highway driving. Due to that fact, there is pitting in front of the hood, bumper and windshield. Also, there is a 3/8” rust spot on the hood near the grill (see photo). Other than that, the car is rust free. The underbody has NO rust whatsoever.
The interior does show some minor signs of wear, although overall is in very nice condition. Passenger and rear seats look almost new, the driver seat shows wear, but there are no rips or tears.

The car comes with the original Cetus wheels. They do show their age and have various scratches and they could use refinishing, but they have no serious curb rash. They are straight and true and have Pirelli 195/65/15 snow tires mounted right now. The tires have about ¾ tread left. That's how the car will be sold.
I have a set of Mille Miglia MM2 16x7 with Conti ExtremeContact 205/55/16 Summer Performance tires that also have about ¾ tread left. These are available if anybody is interested. I know aftermarket wheels aren't everybody's cup of tea, but I always thought, these looked nice on the 850. There is an extra photo album below showing the car with them. Price for the set would be $500.

Since I took ownership every scheduled maintenance service has been performed. Most of the work has been done by either the Volvo dealership (in the earlier years) or by Beaver Brook Auto, an independent Volvo mechanic (later up to now). Most minor repairs and maintenance have been done by myself. Oil changes have been done every 3500k to 4000k, transmission flushes every 30k (all non synthetic). I kept all the receipts for repairs and parts and have them in a 2” binder for everyone who interested.
Below is a list of some of the more important items that have been done by year and mileage. This is just a list of some bigger repairs going back to 2006 (nothing major going on before that), I'm not listing regular maintenance jobs and small repairs like thermostats, dash bulbs, tune-up parts etc.

2012:
I just installed new brakes, Brembo discs and Akebono pads.
New Meyle HD Endlinks installed.
All Dash Switch Bulbs replaced
In Sept a new wheel hub front right was installed at 232k, followed by an alignment.

2011:
Aux Belt Tensioner replaced at 220k
Lower Engine Mount replaced at 216k.
Both Delta Links on rear Axle replaced at 215k.
Both Oil Cooler lines replaced at 215k.
Timing Belt with Idler Pulley and Tensioner replaced. Also Water Pump and Serpetine Belt replaced at210k.
Drive Shaft lh replaced at 210k.
Ignition Switch replaced.

2010:
New Parking Brake Cable lh installed at 195k.
New Parking Brake Cable rh installed at 190k.
New Parking Brake Shoes and Hardware at 190k.
Rear Shocks replaced (Bilstein Touring) at 180k.

2009:
Drive Shaft rh replaced at 178k.
New Bilstein Touring Struts, new spring seats, bump stops, tower bearings at 177k.
Steering Rack replaced (with a rebuilt one) at 173k.
High Pressure Steering Hose replaced at 166k.
Odometer Gear replaced.
PCV System redone, 167k.
EVAP Leak on top of Gas Tank repaired at 165k.
Secondary Air Pump replaced, 165k.

2008:
Front Brake Hoses replaced at 157k.
New Blower Motor at 155k.
Fuel Pump replaced.

2007:
IPD HD Endlinks installed at 142k.

2006:
Timing Belt at 139k.
ABS control unit rebuilt, at about 137k.
Lower Control Arm lh replaced.
Evaporator replaced 120k.

It's a car that has been well cared for and has a lot of life in it still. I'm hoping it goes to someone who appreciates this.
There is nothing that it needs in the immediate future. Hop in and enjoy. However, there is a PCV job lurking around the corner. It may be good for another 20-30k, but who knows. At 240k it needs a the next tune up and trans flush.
Also, I replaced the original antenna with a manual one. The original one comes with the car, it probably needs only a new mast. I just never bothered.
The glove compartment light switch broke, I took it out because of the parasite drain it caused. Again, I did not bother to get a new one.

That's pretty much it, I hope I didn’t forget anything. I'm asking $2500 for it. Please PM or e-mail with any questions, e-mail dharkopf (at) hotmail (dot) com. I'm not desperate to sell this car, so please refrain from lowball offers. Thanks for looking. Dirk
