Looking at a used 2010 C70

Post by otis »

This website is awesome. Thank you for helping me with the transmission on the Volvo S80. I haven't had time to get back and tell you all how thankful I am for your help and everything is working fine. And I will make a donation to this website, because you all have been plenty of help. I am looking at a 2010 C70 for my wife for Valentine Day (the car came from Florida) and I'm trying to decide should I get it. I went to a dealership in Jackson ,Paul Moak, and I thought that purchasing a car from the dealership would be a more reliable source but I'm disappointed in what I'm finding. The main issue that I'm finding is the rust on the bottom of the car. The S80 that we have is 13 years old and have no rust and is running very well. And I have notice the battery have no ventilation and it appears as if someone have sprayed engin cleaner on the engin and have let it dried, or it is the acid from the battery that is leaking. The car has 42 thousand miles on it and it runs good but the dealer tells me that all the mainteince have been done and the air filter looks as if it is the orginal filter that was first put in the car (DIRTY!). They gave me a 3 day return policy with no questions asked. The gave me a carfax that don't match the car at all. And I'm at a dealership! So I would like to know how long do these cars hold up. Thank you and my dead line is tomorrow 3PM. I had church yesterday so I really didn't have time to look at the car good. Can anyone help me? Since it came from Florida I was wondering if the rust could have came from the salt water. Thank you for your time in this matter. Please help!! Thanks again.

Just off the cuff but it sounds like flood damage.
Don't just look at it, drive it.

does the vin number on the carfax match with the cars vin number? same happened to me. some fool rolled back the odometer and he txt me a different cars vin number with low mileage when l asked for a vin number to check the history. when l went to pick up the car, the vin number on the title was totally different from what he txt to me. l then recorded the vin number on the title and went back home and check the carfax and what came up? the car had a different mileage. the dealers can change the milage reported to carfax. l wouldnt get a car with that much rust. rust means the car came in contact with water. just stay away.
