Hello,
My 2004 T6 XC90, has the following problems:
1. When key is in position II, engine light flashes 7 or 8 times
2. When I try to start it, it cranks but wont start, sometimes I listen sounds like little explosions but this is my perception
3. I have the ¨reduced engine performance¨ error message.
All this was originated after a night I was driving as usual, and listened a ¨friction sound¨, fortunately it was 2 or 3 minutes far away from home, so I got home driving very slow. So, next day I called a mechanic and he determined that the timing belt tensioner was literally destroyed, I changed the timing belt + bearing + belt tensioner 6,300 miles ago and now the XC90 has 45K.
So, I had another new kit (belt, bearing, tensioner) and gave him the new tensioner, but it seems like when I drove it for the 2 or 3 months the timing suffered a maladjustment, and when he replaced the tensioner, the car cranked but didn´t start...
After that he checked valves, sparks, coils, battery; all is ok, but still wont start...
Sorry for my typing and tech terms, I am not a mechanic.
I will appreciate your help!
Thanks.
Engine light, ¨reduced engine performance¨, wont start
