2000 S80 No crank, No start.

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2000 S80 No crank, No start.

Post by nissdet »

I have a 2000 S80 with the following codes
CEM-6C48 Transponder type Faulty signal DTC is found active
ECM-4020 Fuel tank pressure sensor - Signal too high DTC is found active
ECM-720A Immobilizer communication - Signal missing DTC is found active

Car has a no crank no start situation. No "immobilizer" or "start prevented" on dash.
CEM is not sending a ground signal to starter relay.
By jumping the relay, car will crank but injectors are not pulsing.
Have tried other batteries, locking/unlocking doors with key and remote, holding battery terminals together...
Everything else in the car seems to function.

I have replaced the antenna ring, and CEM module with volvo reprogram.

I cannot seem to find any wiring issues or faults. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there, I was browsing this site and I have the same identical issue as you...did you resolve this problem? If so, what did you end up figuring out? Thanks in advance!

Volvos are sensitive to bad grounds, and loose connections, like other cars I suppose. I would het a brass brush, clean the pos / neg battery terminals, the ground in the trunk, the positive connection in the engine compartment and the hot connection / wire on the starter. Remove and install related fuses to insure good contact and tighten everything down. Look at the grounds straps on the head. Does the battery draw amps on a charger and how many no load (car off) volts are you getting? Anything less than 11v and you won't even get a click out of the starter.
