car just wont start

have a 1999 volvo v70, first volvo ever. i parked it and left out of town for 3 days, when i came back volvo would just not start, it sounded like battery was dead. After trying to jump it with no success i tried checking fuel pressure and it seamed fine. i am stuck on trying to figure out what is wrong with car, had few people tell me that it might be the spark but not sure how to test that. i am a novice mechanic, i have worked on american cars but volvo seams to be a puzzle to me. one thing that i know is wrong with volvo is the TPS needs to be replaced and i am not sure if that might have to do with it not starting, if you are in the PDX area and know a lil more about volvos than i do and wouldnt mind helping a first time volvo owner i sure would appreciate the help.

whats pdx area? where are you located? does the car even crank when you tried to start it?

PDX is the airport code for Portland Oregon International. That, along with "Portland" in the user tag field leads me to believe that the user is in Portland Oregon and not Portland Maine.
