2002 S40 ignition coil/wires
2002 S40 ignition coil/wires
My S40 threw a P0303 code last year. I replaced the ignition coil and spark plugs, but had trouble fittitng the wire plug at the end of the harness that fits back into the coil because the wires were fraying and coming out of the "socket or plug" that fits into the ignition coil. I managed to pinch the wires together, and it worked. Till Now. I am getting the same code and feel sure the wires on this end of the harness have frayed enough to cause a misfire, cylinder 3, same as last time. What is the part to replace this wire harness end? Can i cut the wires and repair it somehow? The Volvo dealer couldnt recommend a part, except a whole new wiring harness. any help would be appreciated! thank you.

Having a similar problem with my 2003, no codes or miss fires but when I changed the plugs I noticed that much of the insulation is gone! Someone (it's used and I got it recently) has used electrical tape to fix-up a large section. I can't find a replacement harness anywhere, looks like I'll be manufacturing my own. I did find a site that went into great detail on the engine wiring harness of 240 and 740 80 - 88 Volvos. Apparently they were known to loose their insulation also.
