so i am going to rebuild my oil cooler lines as shown in the diy for the automatic transmission lines
I am not near the car now, and was wondering if anyone knew what size hose I need to pick up for the engine oil cooler.
the search shows 3/8 i.d. for automatic tranny
wanted to pick stuff up on way home today
so is engine oil cooler same size and anyone know how many feet I should pick up
ill hit the dealer too for new o-rings etc
thanks

I bought some 3/8" ID hydraulic hose to try to rebuild my lines and it wouldn't fit. It must be some metric size since Thomkins Industries couldn't match it.

It's 1/2 ID - find a suitable one for oil application, high-heat and able to withstand mid-pressure
I still do it if interested - https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 43#p267443.

just replaced the hoses.
thanks
for me an old fart (60) what helped me was to pull the dispstick tube so I could get my big old hands to that balnkety balnk bolt. what a stinking pain that bolt is. I spent prob the most time on that one stinking bolt to get it out and get it in....a serious pain in the arse.
so for those of you that are thinking of this job. I would buy his hoses before buying some china crap. also I would have a dipstick tube o ring on hand. I did, so its new
the other big help is to pull the thermostat, that made it all easier to get to the bolt that holds the clamp that holds the hoses, then you can really clean everything , esp where the new o rings have to go
another thing...was I pulled the oil filter so I could snake things around easier, had an new filter on hand, a mann, so did an oil change at the same time
oh and I also pulled the top rad hose, so I had to drain things, but this too made it easier
total time.....with all the extra I did over the diy instructions...4 hours
could have done it in 2.5 if not for that stinking bolt
thanks

Took me about that long for my first try. I think I have it down to under two hours now, and that includes thoroughly cleaning the area of oil leaks.

I too struggled for hours trying to get that stinking 10mm bolt started. What helped for me was to remove the AC compressor bolt (14mm) that is positioned right in front of the oil cooler support bolt (brilliant engineering Volvo), using a short extension and a swivel and 6-point socket. Once the AC compressor bolt was removed, it was cake getting the 10mm threaded and snugged down.
