850R on Last Top Gear

Post by jonesboy1983 »

I was watching the BBC version of Top Gear on Sunday and there is an 850R wagon featured! The premise is they had to buy estate cars for 1500 pounds and now drive them across Africa to find the source of the Nile. James May chose the 850R. No surprise it has 150,000 miles on it, runs great, but AC is broken. Just thought the 850 fans would want to know.

Equally as useless in mud!

XC would have at least gotten stuck less. =D

I took my S70 off roading quite a bit to go fishing but nothing like that!

That was horrible to watch. Should be rated R for violence.
I am not an expert mechanic, but I will attempt any repair. Worst case scenario is I screw it up worse than it was.

I think it gets obscene, seems to be a wrx bonnet scoop on the 850r in a photo.
Bet the compressor needed shimming.

A Cross Country would have been an obvious choice. Just as long as May beats Jezza's 5 series with the low budget rear tires!
