can we trust the digital odometer in 2nd hand car? Topic is solved

hi everyone,
the odometer of old cars' are mechanical type,
sometimes it can be easily found that the meter had been tuned by the second hand broker.
however, the contemporary odometer was digital, it's hardly found that the meter had been tuned by 2nd hand car broker which means the meter shows wrong information to us.

how do i confirm the real distance of a 2nd car?
