*'96 850 5 Speed Manual in local junkyard- might be crushed*

Post by cmblackburn »

Hey everybody! It's been forever since I've been on here, but I came across a '96 5 Speed 850 in the junkyard today- anybody wanna come grab the swap kit outta it? Located at the LKQ off of highway 70 in Durham, North Carolina.
Car has 255,000 miles, but a lot of stuff has been replaced it seemed like- shifter went into all gears, clutch still had a pedal. Axles looked almost brand new, transmission was cleaner than the engine. Someone should jump on it! There was a 95' 5 speed with 120k that got crushed before anyone got the 5 speed outta it.
Here's some pictures. Back seat was in terrific shape as were door panels, etc. Car was obviously taken care of.
Just wanted to make people aware that there's a 5 speed up for grabs.

Come here. There's a wood shift knob in the junkyard and all other kinds of goodies (940 turbo wheels, s90 parts, etc.)- would be a fun time! Spring break is April 1st-5th

Hello, I forgot to make a similar post a few months ago. I was at a junkyard in Honey Brook, PA and saw an old 850 with a manual transmission. I believe it is still there, the place is called Ford's and is only open Saturdays. I last visited there in the Fall for some bits off an S70. The owner mentioned he had driven an 850 at one time, and the car was adjacent to his building, it had been sitting there for awhile. Unfortunately, they don't inventory available cars, but his prices are fair. Here is his phone number: 610-273-2021.

I love that jackstand. Looks super safe.
Also, for those in southern VA there is a junkyard in Goochland (lost the number, you can probably google them) that had a mostly complete 5speed 850 as of 6 months ago.
I am not an expert mechanic, but I will attempt any repair. Worst case scenario is I screw it up worse than it was.

They weld spare rims/ steel wheels together for makeshift jack stands around the junkyards- they're actually fairly sturdy. Makes it easy to get parts out from under, I've yanked strut assembly's and a fuel tank for a fuel pump.

They did the same thing to a '96 850 auto GLT here in Oz with only around 70k miles. Crushed it with a great leather wheel, electric passenger seat and three good doors.

I got in quick and grabbed engine and auto trans, wheels, tyres, SC-816, new discs and pads and leather console lid.

The next time I went in about 2 months later it was a quarter it's size and ready to be melted/shredded:(
