Throttle body question

Post by nautilus78987 »

Hello,

I am puzzled a bit. My car is V40, 2000, 1.8 (volvo engine), it has that "erratic idle" problem, and i thought why not disconnect sensors and see what happens.
1. MAF - car shuts down.
2. ICV sensor - extremely rough idle.
3. Throttle position sensor - nothing changes and erratic idle still present. My first thought - man, just change that sensor.

I thought that if i rush i may just throw my money without no result. Just want to hear some more or less professional opinion regarding this matter, because i am not very much into mechanics, maybe i am wrong and it shouldn't act anyhow when disconnected (i mean TPS).

Thanks in advance - volvo newbie

Noticed one more thing - when temperature is low - rpm constant at 1000. When temperature (coolant temp) starts rising - rpm getting lower proportionally. Service light on for as long as- minutes, then - disappear. Engine sounds great (smooth, constant, rhythmic sound) Maybe i am searching the wrong direction...
