Hi folks, a lady near by has a 2006 2.5t s80 awd for sale.
The body is 100pecent zero dents scratches or rust. It is black with tan interior.
It has all service records and was always maintained at the dealer, even oil changes!
It also has new tires on the 17" rims...
However the car had high millage 174miles... And an engine issues. Apparently no compression in cylinder 5.
Because of the engine issue the car is selling for 1600$
I found a used local engine for 1200$ with only 47miles.
But I don't need another car! I want to buy te car and swap the motor in.
I would end up with aprox 3000$ in the car at that point with taxes and such.
Would there be any room for profit at that point if I was going to sell it? I know different parts of the world are priced differently.
I have done a few motor swaps with the white block.. So if I was able to sell it for 4000$ with te low millage engine installed I would be happy.. But I wouldn't be happy only making 500$ off the deal.
What do you guys think? Should I just stay away from such a high millage car even though it looks mint?
Will my motor swap make it hard to sell, even tho it's low millage?
Sorry for the long post... But I am want a project like this.. Just wondering if you all think I am crazy or not! Lol cause I often wonder! Lol
Thanks!

Would've thought a 2006 S80 with AWD and a five cylinder would fetch more than 4 grand.
These are great cars. I would be very tempted to keep it.

Looks great! Let us all know how the transplant goes. Be sure the correct series of motor is sourced as there may be quite afew running changes with the B5254T.

Yes I'll keep this thread up with how the project goes.
So far I've confirmed the number 5 piston has a hole in it!
But the add did say the motor was bad,, just had to confirm myself.
Going to do a bit more calling around, but I have already found two local engines that match this cars specs..

just remember when your all done take it to a volvo dealer and have the updates and all so everything will recognize the replacement motor.....its free for the life of the vehicle

Is that really required? I didn't think I would have to do that for a motor swap.rerobin66 wrote:just remember when your all done take it to a volvo dealer and have the updates and all so everything will recognize the replacement motor.....its free for the life of the vehicle

Even the throttle module will adapt if it's a Bosch unit (though they usually sell these separately as well as coil packs), as well as the input from knock sensors and crank/cam sensors. Just fit the engine and start; you'll be good to go.

Yep, i doubt the used engine will come with much for electronics. I do hope it comes with the fuel injectors tho.precopster wrote:Even the throttle module will adapt if it's a Bosch unit (though they usually sell these separately as well as coil packs), as well as the input from knock sensors and crank/cam sensors. I called the last place on my list for an engine today, and im glad i did! They have a 2006 2.5T engine with 80kms "50miles" for 700$ allready removed from the car with 30day warranty
Being 500$ cheaper then the motor i had allready found I am super happy! makes me feel a little more comfortable about being able to make a few dollars off this car.
I did some interior detailing yesterday, and the interior is in great shape, minus the drivers seat which is quite cracked and doesnt look very good compared to the rest of the car.
Im kind of on the fence with this, wish there was something I could do with it... But I imagine all I could do would be replace it. I imagine they are not cheap with the airbags and such.
Are there any options for replacement seat covers?

hi there,
A great new to see you can do something with both cars...
My question is : why do we often read 2.5t issues ? (or is the 2,5t engine often broken ?) is this engine a bit fragile or so what ?
I mean i can read here some head gasket issues, some cylinders issues, some turbo issues, and so on. I see that the car has a lot of miles, and so the engine would have died being old... but thats my question.
thanks and show us your work
