Hi fellow Volvo owners!
I have been searching the past couple of weeks all over the internet and various Volvo forums and have found information, but thought I would post to get some specific advice to my problem.
I have a 1994 Volvo 960 with the steel sunroof. Last winter, I opened the roof to vent as my windows fogged up to get air circulating and there was ice and snow on the roof and one of the arms that lift it snapped (white metal). The sunroof will still open and tilt up to vent, but it will not slide back. It attempts to lower but then stops and will not go any further. After doing some reading, I was under the impression that even with an arm broken, it should still retract unless it cannot park low enough when closing to be able to retract. It doesnt seem to close and sit flush with the roof now that the arm is broken. I have also read that sometimes when they break, there is some clip that falls off into the track and jams it which is also apparently common. Is there a solution to fix this? I can find a replacement arm and if I do decide to replace that part, how hard is it to replace that? Can the panel be removed to access that part or does the entire headliner inside the car have to be removed and is a huge job? I have found some instructions on removing the sunroof panel itself and was curious if the arm can be accessed and removed from outside the car with that panel removed.
Any help, advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone!
