Can someone give me some idea what to do with my gear shifter on the console. Last night the knob broke off and just sort of fell over. I pulled that part of the console off and removed the knob with the boot attached. I found a square metal tube with a little plastic "peg" sticking out of the middle. (The metal tube goes into the knob.) This peg obviously is what the button on the knob operates to move in increments from gear to gear. The button on the knob is stuck in and doesn't pop out. (Strong spring behind it).
I can operate the transmission gears by pushing in this little peg and moving the lever tube...
It looks like the peg has snapped off inside (if it is supposed to be permanently attached in there?!) or does it just poke in there and the knob is supposed to pop off like that?!
