I just recently purchased, about 2.5 weeks ago, a 2001 S40. It has about 55,000 miles on it. When I bought it the cigarette lighter, and console lights, the ones behind the fan speed, etc...did not work. The dealership I bought the vehicle from is a Saturn dealer and is telling me they are going to fix it. The question I have is if this a common problem that I should expect fairly often or if there is something I can point the shop to look at.
Also, there is a rattling type sound in the front right tire when I slow down and make left hand turns that has just emerged. Any suggestions?
And, when I have the heater set to the defrost on the front windshield it seems to surge then slow, then surge ease up as far as how hard the air is coming out. Could this problem be related or tied in with the problem with the lights?
One more thing, the last couple of times I have started the car it sounds like there is water in the dashboard and sounds like it runs back and forth across the dash and then is gone. What is it and is that a major problem?
Thanks for your help, whatever it is you can give me.
2001 Volvo 1.9T - Some questions Topic is solved
I have the same problem with my 2000 S40. It started a couple years ago. Mine happens when the compressor is running, especially when it first comes on. Happens when the air or defrost is on. I also notice a bit of grinding, but really do hear anything from the engine compartment. I wonder if it's the freon. My air is very cold however. I hope someone can help....JGK
Check the cig lighter fuse...if it's ok then check if there is even a connection from the fuse box to the cig lighter...the connection was missing in my '01 s40. As for the water sounds I have the same thing..no big deal though, my dealer says it's normal.
