Well, the ETM on my wife's car is in its final death throes. I know there is the XeMODeX option, but in my research I have come across the Sacer contact-less TPS. What sort of luck has anyone had with these units? They are significantly less than the XeMODeX unit, but we intend on keeping the car for awhile so I want to be sure that I do it right the first time, even if right means spending the $$ that XeMODeX wants. So, MVS community, what has your experience been with these things?
(btw, you can find the Sacer unit I am referring to here: http://tinyurl.com/nfqjz92)
ETM failure. How about Sacer?
They are one and the same, the difference is that xemodex does the TPS install for you and with the sacer you'll be pulling apart the ETM to do it yourself. xemodex might do some extra cleaning/refurb with other parts of the ETM but I'm not 100% sure

There was a thread on here about it, and from a couple guys who rebuilt the units as well using the Sacer components. Basically, they stated (without trying to sell their services) that it was harder than it looks. Something to think about...
If you screw it up, I'm not sure your TB can be rebuilt, so you run a risk.

Yeah, upon further research (and some valuable input from Matty Moo) I have found the same. It's not quite as straight forward as it appears. So, I will need to either go with Xemodex, or another alternative...if there is such a thing.

I've done the same research a few weeks ago, and seems like Xemodex is the way to go.
First i thought about getting a rebuilt ETM from FCP but you would need to install the software which will cost you another 100. The good thing is, once you register this item from FCp you will get a life time warranty.
Second, if you find a good used one, not old and pulled from same model and year of your car, you could install it to your car without a software installation.
There is another company that fixes these ETM's and give 5yrs warranty on ebay, can't think of the name, they were charging 200 bucks 3-4 months ago, now they raised it to 400 bucks which you will still need to get the software installed.

Modulemasters is the one on ebay. I was surprised they were only charging $250 at the time, I figured it would go up.... As it should. Repairing them isn't a big issue, it's the support side that takes up a lot of time.
