Foot Brake Interlock

Post by arbop »

on my 92 240 with auto transmission, the interlock that requires you to step on the foot brake before you can shift out of park is now malfunctioning. So, I have to reach down into the shifter console and move the little yellow lever. Is there an easy fix that would either fix the interlock, or allow me to bypass it completely? Thanks

My 1992 240 wagon did the same a while back. Your neutral safety switch is most likely dirty or bad. If you remove the cover around the shifter, you will see the neutral safety switch. There are a couple screws to the right to remove. Slide it out of its cubby and it should look like a triangle with a rounded side. They're available at FCPEuro for about $20.
Here's the switch: http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-n ... 60-9130035
Hope this helped.
