Hi guys, I never did any work in the engine bay of the car before, only suspension, tie rods, brakes etc.
What am I supposed to use to clean the pcv system and the throttle body with? Does throttle body cleaner spray work for cleaning both systems?
Throttle body cleaning

Throttle body cleaner or carburetor cleaner will work just fine.
To do it completely, buy a new TB gasket and remove the whole thing from the car to clean it. Make sure to wipe off all the grease and clean off the terminals to the throttle position sensor as well.

well crap. I just took the car apart, took off throttle body, cleaned it replaced it along with the gasket.
Also I replaced the PCV system, so I took off the intake manifold, removed the fuel rail with the injectors in it, cleaned a bunch of dirt and oil and stuff.
Now after I put it all together when I try to start it its really rough, the engine shakes a little then I can hear a small popping sound then it dies. What did I do??
Would this happen if some carb cleaner got into the manifold? Maybe a vacuum line is bad? Please somebody help!
Should I stop trying to start it?

Sounds like you forget to reconnect the mass air flow sensor. It's next to the air cleaner. Carb cleaner in the manifold shouldn't cause any problems. Also, if it was a vacuum line it would idle rough, but you shouldn't get a popping noise. My bet is on the mass air flow sensor.

I think you got the bracket on the right bottom screw stuck in between the intake manifold and gasket. Take it back off, and just toss that bracket - it's too much of a pain to get it in the right place.ncbudai wrote:well crap. I'll try those fixes tonight when I get home, thanks. I really hope its a simple fix like that and I didn't mess anything major up.
My poor car is exposed to this Arizona heat, and everything under the hood is baked and brittle. I'm still picking little pieces of plastic and stuff out of my arms today.
