Hello everyone.
I have a question for experts of the forum.
I have a Volvo 850 Year 94 with automatic air conditioner and like everyone, my dashboard cracked at the top and at the bottom, and when traveling is noisy and rattling.
My friend has a '95 Volvo 850 with manual air conditioner dashboard of his complete as new!
Is the dashboard of 95 Air manually fit to 94 with automatic air conditioner?
There are also distinct changes in the instrument panel.
I sure need to replace the wiring harness, the question of what else if that is relevant.
94 850 dashbord replacment

The dashboard itself should fit fine but the climate control units won't swap. There are some airflow sensors in the ECC system that tie into the ducts in the dashboard and some wiring that will need to be swapped over from one to the other but that shouldn't be a big deal if you have both dash boards out side by side. Basically, anything associated with the green connector will need to get swapped from the ECC dash to the MCC dash. You may need to drill some holes in the air ducts for the airflow sensors. Your existing ECC control unit will slide right into place on the replacement dash.
The '95 should have the updated switches that have user replaceable lamps so I would keep the newer dash switches wherever possible.

To tell the truth I was waiting for your response ....
I'm glad dashboard fits.
In my parking there is another 850 94 that dosent work that I take from it parts
Dashboard of course completely broken, but it's the same as my 94 850.
I could take out the harness wires and parts and fit it all in the Dashboard I pull from 95 before I breaks down a half of the car I'm driving
By the way,
I waited two years! To get the 850 95 Complete with dashboard.
It was lying in the driveway for two years due to legal problems of a dispute over inheritance, and it was impossible to renew car license. And every month I was going through there and ask if I can take parts.
A few days after a court regulated the succession fed up with me and just gave me a key and said Take and do not return ...

This morning I took apart the dashboard of the 850 94 the broken sitting in my driveway.
On the air conditioner ducts was small wire harness with three sensors.
I will transfer the ducts themselves, instead of drill holes in 850 ducts of 95 MCC
Is the air bag passenger of 95, fit for 94?
Is the stereo of 95, fit for 94? Currently is installed a stereo, not original. And I want to go back to the original.
I hope in a few days to dismantle the dashboard of the 95th. I probably will strengthen the brittle plastic I'm still not sure how, I'd love ideas and tips.

The air bag and radio should all be the same in terms of fit. For the air bag it is best to just swap them as part of whichever dash cap you decide to keep, they all plug in the same way and with the same style connector.
The plastic panel in the dash cap that the air bag is behind is designed to detach from its mounts if he air bag detonates. As such, it has very weak mounts for that panel and swapping around the air bag itself will likely break the mounts. The radios should swap between the two dash boards with no problems so long as you have the codes.

Thank you for the response.
When I search the forums, I have seen two methods of dismantle the dashboard.
One method is to dismantle the top with air bag first and then the lower part of the dashboard.
Second method to keep the top of the the dashboard connected. And take out all the dashboard in one piece.
What is the recommended preferred way ?

The dash is bulkier with the cap in place and it will generally take two people to get it out of the car. The cap does, however, give the dash more rigidity and it is less apt to break in new places with the cap on.
The cap can easily be removed by one person. Without the cap the dash itself can be more easily removed by one person. In both cases we are not talking about a great deal of weight and it is the sort of thing my wife has helped me with in the past. The dash, with the cap, is unbalanced and top heavy.
With an assistant I prefer to take both parts out in one piece but if you are doing it by yourself then it would be better to remove the cap first.

Yesterday I had the time, and I took apart the dashboard of the 850 Year 95 I got for free.
I decided to dismantle the dashboard along with the top so it will be more stable and less likely to crack the brittle plastic.
I needed some help to get out of the car dashboard, (thank the anonymous passerby who helped me).
I brought home the dashboard, and I was very pleased to have just one small crack nonsignificant, see pictures.
I am looking for time to dismantle my dashboard and replace them.
But meantime I'd love ideas and tips on how to strengthen and prevent dashboard cracks. Now that the dashboard is lying on the table is the time to strengthen and improve it.
ideas and tips will be welcomed..

Those mounts are so perfect that I hate to tell you to do anything. My original reinforcing method seemed to prevent otherwise good mounts from completely breaking but they also created a new weak point for the mounts that had broken up badly before.
You likely found it already but here is a link to the simpler reinforcement method that I have used.

Good morning.
During the preparatory work to return original stereo, I found the model 95 has two large speakers on the rear tray, and the model 94 does not, but if I'm not mistaken I see two connectors disconnected near where the rear speakers should be.
Is the wiring of the 94 suitable stereo 95? Can I just move the speakers or wiring that also need to be transferred?
