Bought car 1 year ago from a guy I trust. New wheel bearings installed few months prior to purchase. Car developed a humming noise that I thought was the beginning of a bad wheel bearing. Even though they were not that old, after being in parts business for a while, parts these days just don't seem to last.
Better half took the car the other day, on way home noise(hum) escalated and the car began to slightly rev up and down while driving it. I am guessing it was not the wheel bearing after all, any thoughts?
P.S. about 6 months ago we had the idler and serpentine belt replaced. Car does not hum while sitting still at idle, but can hear it revving up and down slightly.
Thanks in advance,

Could you take a video of the noise?
There may be 2 separate problems here.

Not sure how to post a video, but do have an update. Had time to look at the car in the daylight this morning. Driver side tire is excessively worn and now the transmission shift arrow is popping up and the winter mode button light is flashing, even though the economy button is depressed. Depressing any of the buttons changes none of that. There is also a slight vibration through the steering wheel.
hope this helps

Get your wheel alignment checked and have a front end guy check out the steering and suspension. Don't know about the S W and E buttons but I have cleared this problem on a neighbor's V70 with a little WD 40. Seems that spilled coffee was jamming the console buttons.
Good luck
