1995 850 A/C compressor on and off problem

Post by cookiemonster131 »

Oky guys my car is running much better but my A/C climate control is hit or miss. I first thought i was getting low on freon. Never the less i know realize it is the A/C clutch not coming on. I am wondering if there is a relay or something to look into. I do not believe it is the clutch itself as i have powered it on and off with a jumper wire and it works perfect.

ANY AND ALL INPUT MUCH APPRECIATED!

Thanks Cookie

it does continue to blow at a high rate if need be so it is not like it is confused about the temperature in the cabin...

The AC Relay is the small one sitting in the Fuse Box next to driver's side suspension tower. Search forum for photos.

cn90 after searching it appears that most people are saying it is a relay behind the glove box...

are you sure it is in the driverside fuse box under the hood?

It's the clutch gap getting too large when hot.

1+,

See the Clutch Gap thread by jblackburn. I have had success with zip tie (instead of bread clips).

The fact that you jump the relay and the AC works perfect tells me that your problem is in the circuit to the Stator. The AC Relay rarely goes bad in these cars. But it does not mean the problem is not there.

The relay is in the photos in the link below:
