Hi from the Netherlands, introducing & pictures

Post by Marty__Mouse »

As a first post on this very nice forum, I would like to introduce myself and my car.

I'm Maarten from the Netherlands and have bought my first Volvo in August last year, a V70 classic 2.4T from June 1999 (MY2000) with nice full leather interior and almost full options.
For now I have had a lot of bad luck with it, resulting in a motor swap a couple of weeks ago!
It started out as a 2.4T and now a (2003) 2.3T T5 engine is fitted with nearly 120.000km's on it.

The old engine used a great lot of oil, around 1 litre each 250-300km's and a compression test learned that the 3rd cylinder was losing a lot of pressure. And 2 other cylinders leaked oil into the carter. So this one was on the edge of dying.
But since I had a brand new LPG system fitted only last year as well as a new ETM, coils, headlights, wheels, nivomats (automatic suspension) and different drive shafts, there was a lot of money involved.

So i took the expensive way and went for an engine swap. Together with that I've changed the original Downpipe for a 3" one and have had a 100cpi race catalyst fitted . Fasttech (a local tuning company) will tune the engine management for the new engine on October 1st and than I should have around 300bhp to play with.. ;-)

But enough talk, pictures are necessary here:

The way I bought it:

I've fitted a aftermarket radio with aftermarket speakers for better sound (Pioner HU and Focal speakers)

A bit maintenance:

I hope that it's not to much for a first time ;-)
Nice to be here, finally made an account after searching these forums over and over again for help..

I really like the Pegasus wheels! Are those 17" or 18"?

Welcome to the forum, Maarten!

You've got me fooled. I first looked at the photos in the other post and I thought it was a genuine R.
Very nice job, the car looks fantastic! You've done some serious work on this thing, wow.

Thanks guys!

I saw your reaction on the other thread Dirk, indeed it isn't a real R. But I should be able to keep up with them, even more, should be a bit quicker..

The car has cost a great amount of money the last year.. But hey, when you do it, do it right! :D

So I hope to enjoy it for a long time, and with the new engine and all the new parts I should be able to I hope!

The wheels are 18" GMTURBO, but I have the wrong tiresize (225/40-18 instead of 225/35-18) so the tires a a bit bigger than standard.. But it fits so I will keep it that way until I need new tires..
