My Daughter's 2000 s40 needs a new abs module ....... The shop she took it to said that the part they could get was a 'used' one that would cost $300, a new one from the dealer, $1200 ............. Then, it would take about $500 in labor to install it ........ Is it just me, or am I wrong, thinking that this is not a $500 labor sorta 'thing'?? I may be being a bit naive, but lookin' online, it didn't look much tougher than replacing the water pump on my 03 Dodge Cummins ( which I've done twice in the 250,000 I've own her) .......... The only 'specialty' tool I found was a #4 torx ( not all that 'special' to me) What am I 'missing'?
Also..... Are there 'secret handshakes' to changing tranny and power steering fluid?

Send the module out and get it repaired for $100 from Modulemasters. All of the Bosch modules fail.
