2003 S80 T6 auxiliary fan won't shut off
I had to disconnect the battery cable for a repair now the auxiliary fan continues to run.

lol....these S80 are so alike. All summer we have had this with my 2000. We just made sure the ac and/or heater was not on when we shut the engine off and it was only temporary that it ran. Check forum topics that have this issue for info. Sorry I am not more help.

If the battery is disconnected within 5 minutes of ignition being switched to off position you can have an issue with network error codes and some error handling effects will occur like the fan running.
Disconnect the battery and then hold the removed the ground lead to the positive cable post to assure the capacitors are discharged in all modules. This will allow a full reset to occur.
