2001 V70 seat latch problem Topic is solved

The latch on my 2001 V70 2nd row left hand seat (immediately behind driver on LHD cars) will not release, so I can't fold it forward. This is the latch on the outside top corner of the seatback. The slider slides back but the seat doesn't release for folding. Anyone have experience with this or know how to remove the plastic panels to gain access to the mechanism without breaking them? My dog once dropped a chew toy behind the seat of my '01 XC that got compressed between the seat back & cargo floor when I put the seat back up. The latch button will release, but because the seatback was under forward pressure, the latch couldn't move. Same thing happens with the tailgate when my rear cargo mat gets caught under the door when closed. Try getting in the car & REALLY push back on the seat when you release the latch & maybe bounce back & forth on it to jiggle it free & see if that works first.......I have no idea how to access the guts of the thing - never looked.

I have the same problem, I broke the latch myself by to much
force and now I can not replace it because I do not see how to get to it.
