1999 V70 Wind Noise
1999 V70 Wind Noise
I've a beloved 1999 V70 w 80K miles. There is an increasingly annoying wind noise from 30 mph up - volume seems to vary with wind direction. Visual examination of windshield seals doesn't show any gaps. The car is FULL of seals - doors, windows, windshield , tailgate, etc. - many of which look dry and stiff. and it would cost loads to replace them all. Any ideas on where to start with the greatest likelihood of success? Many thanks for advice. Mario1234
I had the same headache on my XC 70 AWD. It was the sunroofseals as well as the windshield seals. Have a really good look at it. Does the windshield leak at all? When was the last time you thoroughly checked the seals. Could something just be frayed and its hitting the vehicle?? Let me know how you make out.

If by chance you have roof racks take the crossbars off. They produce a lot of wind noise no matter where they placed.

What about the strip right across the top of the windshield, is it intact? Very common for these to disappear from the car.

Buy some dry ice, put it in a small bucket 1/2 fill with water.
Place the bucket inside the car with all sunroof, windows closed.
Park the car inside the garage so you can see where the air leak is.
