93 850 Beeping Sound

Post by ralforque »

My 93 850 has been having problems with the idle for a month now. I've recently replaced it with an after market fuel injectors, Volvo IAC valve and Volvo TPS.

When the car's RPM drops below 800, I can hear a beeping sound (like a pager) near the fuel injector 1. Dont' know exactly where but it's close. Can it be the thermostat?

Also when the engine warms up, my idle goes crazy up and down from 1500-2000 rpm. Hence the replacement of the IAC and TPS.

Any suggestions from any one?

Any more codes? It sounds like it could be a faulty engine coolant temperature sensor.

I don't have a reader to pull up codes. My lambda light is now on.

http://www.volvospeed.com/CheckEngine.php <-- You don't need a reader to check codes on that car.

UPDATE:
I left the battery unplugged overnight. PLugged the battery back and now getting 214 code, RPM SENSOR absent.

I don't know where to start to troubleshoot this. Any recommendations?

For the ECU on your model year car, 2-1-4 is listed as "RPM Sensor signal sporadic". Okey, so the first step would be to inspect all of the wiring to and from the sensor to make sure there are no loose connections/shorts. If none are present, you'll need to replace the sensor. It is located on the rear of the transmission housing. It isn't a terribly uncommon problem on these cars.
