cigarette lighter

I can't charge my phone/ipod in my '96 volvo 850 because the cigarette lighter doesn't work. It just pops right back out when you push anything in. Do I have to take the car to the dealer to get this fixed?

Start by checking the fuse for it. If it is not burnt, you'll most likely need to do some electrical testing to look for shorts/poor connections using a multimeter and/or test light. I'd save the dealer as a last resort.
