Hmmm, I Fixed a loose intercooler connection to stop a p0243 error. I always had a p0171 pending. Fixing the intercooler line also cleared the P0171 issue and no more p0243. I did not reset the OBD to clear anything as it cleared itself and all status showed READY and all status was READY even before my intercooler fix.
2 weeks ago I removed my battery knowing full well it would set all the OBD to not ready. I re-installed the battery, car is running fine no codes but nothing will go ready now. It has been 2 weeks, about 1000 miles mixed highway and city driving and the status still isn't ready. Does it really take a month of sundays to get these to ready or do I have to do the driving cycle thing? No codes, car runs very strong.

I think it will reset soon. My S70 took between 2 to 3 weeks for the system monitors to reset. I have a Pontiac Bonneville and that will reset in a couple of days. It can be frustrating!

I am so looking forward to putting my code reader into the glovebox and putting the cover back over the obd connector. Nice to not have CELs anymore. I'm hoping to go to 300K+ on this old beast and think it can. I'm wondering if checking so often affects it going to READY? I'll leave it alone until Friday before checking again.

Damn! Been 2500 miles and still NOT READY. No codes though. I tried the drive sequence but it is nearly impossible to satisfy all the required conditions without screwing up traffic.
Strangely, when I used to have a persistent P0171 - pending i.e. no mil, the whole slate of readiness settings would go READY after a while even with the P0171 pending (it too would clear once in a while). The cause of the P0171 turned out to be a loose turbo pipe at the bottom of the intercooler. Once thing warm up for a bit here, I'm going to loosen it up again and see if I can get the P0171 to come back and run the car until readiness then tighten the hose back up and let it self clear the P0171. Why this worked like this I have no clue but I can't think of anything else. I drive an hour to work and back, would a three hour trip maybe help? I did find an EPA thing in case I have inspection issues next year.

Linked is the "Smog Check OBDII Reference (Testability Issue)" formerly known as Appendix J. The Smog Test Station I've been using for the past 2 years had not heard of the Appendix J but was willing to give the instructions on Pg.1 - Table 2 a try. He said he learned something new after it Passed. Just borrow an OBDII to help a friend's car and decided to check my car and there is still 1 Status not ready. You are allowed 1 Not Ready Status but not 2 for Test to proceed. The Smog Test took place in Oct.rmmagow wrote:2500 miles and still NOT READY... I was just going to say that
You can have two (2) not readies and pass emissions

I was told (perhaps it's CA) you can have only 1 Not Ready Code?JRL wrote:
