Hello,
My fob quit working many months ago and was never replaced. I started using the key to open the door.
I find it hard to describe what happened so please excuse any errors. The metal part of the key appears to be intact. The plastic part that the metal fits into is cracked a bit which made the metal come loose or out of the plastic casing. '
The metal part will not slide back into exact place so it can be super glued and will not open the car door at all. The key will however start the car by placing the metal key into the ignition then sliding the plastic casing over the end and CAREFULLY turning the key. I know this will not last long.
I am wondering what if anything can be done without going to the dealer? I have the key and the casing but have exhausted all efforts to locate online what it is needed to repair. Everything I have found online is the switchblade type or does not give enough description.
There are several fob casings found, it would be nice if I could find something like this for my situation as long as the casing could be pried open and the chip?/transponder? carefully removed.
Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

The original post is a little confusing.
At first it references the "fob". Which I've understood to be the dangling piece that unlocks the doors.
Later in the post it seems to refer to the plastic portion of the key. That confuses me.
Regardless, I was able to find a replacement "fob" housing on eBay for cheap.
Hopefully, that's all you need.

Pmondrian, do you have the switch blade (combination key and remote) or the separate key and remote?
