2006 S40 Bootlock not operating

Post by ace1314 »

Hi, Hopefully someone can help me. When I unlock the car i cannot get my boot open. I have pressed the release button and can hear a positive click from the button but no noise from the catch which used to make a very positive clunk noise and the boot lid would open.

You haven't by chance locked the glove compartment on your left hand dash (RH for LH drive models) with that little removeable aluminum key have you?

Hi Jimmy, I have not touched the glove compartment in any way. This problem happened a couple of times over the last month when my wife was out in the car but when she got back home and I tried the boot it opened following me giving the boot a thump down where the lock is situated. The doors all work as normal and have given no problems. This time however nothing seems to be working. Cheers

Sorry but when i say nothing is working I mean that no action i take will release the boot. The doors remain in working order. Many thanks.

I only mentioned that since the valet lock function that is active if you lock the glovebox also shuts off the trunk latch function.
You could have faulty latch or broken wire in harness to latch motor. Usually a break where it bends when boot is opened.

Hi Jimmy, Sorry about my absence from site and a reply to you following the last post you made. I will check through the harness as I now have managed to get into the boot via the back seats and removed the boot lid liner. So here goes !!
I will post my findings if and when i get anywhere.
Many thanks
