Bad ECU?

Post by lankservices »

I'm baffled. '98 S70 T5 won't start. Jumpd started and runs until I get to Autozone who sells me a battery. After battery installed car won't start at all! Took to Volvo dealer who said MAF and TPS sensor...replaced both. Then said $1700 ECU...wow! Bought Used ECU and it started and drove home. Same day it started to rough idle and died. Won't start again. Took to Swedish Engineering who says ECU. Sent ECU off to rebuilder. Rebuilt 2x now and still won't start...not even a spark. Technician now says buy new ECU $1,700. Is this crazy or what?? No confidence that ECU is the problem and don't want to throw away more money but need the car. Any thoughts???

My bet would not be on the ECU itself, but instead the socket or the wiring and/or wiring harness running to the ECU. You'll want to get a multimeter and start inspecting all of the wiring, contacts, and sockets.
