I have the car back. Here are few photos of old throttle body. For some reason the connector was clipped off at the shop. It is original with above 146,000 miles. Does it have a future/rebuild?

You could rebuild it using a Sacer non contact digital angle sensor but it looks like the shop also chopped the lead a tad shorter than it should be, the reason they cut the plug off is down to being lazy, the cable to the ETM is trapped between the front face of the engine and the starter motor, to remove it without chopping the cable you should remove the starter motor steady bracket which releases the trapped cable - The six wires to the ETM are color coded so you should be able to solder the wires back together than pop a length of heatshrink over each soldered joint - Mike

The snip is too close.mikealder wrote:You could rebuild it using a Sacer non contact digital angle sensor but it looks like the shop also chopped the lead a tad shorter than it should be, the reason they cut the plug off is down to being lazy, the cable to the ETM is trapped between the front face of the engine and the starter motor, to remove it without chopping the cable you should remove the starter motor steady bracket which releases the trapped cable - The six wires to the ETM are color coded so you should be able to solder the wires back together than pop a length of heatshrink over each soldered joint - Mike
The other end of cable (plastic housing) is screwed on to throttle body, would replacing the complete cable assembly a better option?

Don't try taking the cable out of the end where it enters the body of the ETM as this will break wires, it isn't a connector.
I would try getting an ETM cable from the junk yard, cut it off near the ETM then solder the wires together matching the color codes and add some heatshrink to insulate the wires - Mike

I am practicing soldering and heat shrink while searching the jy.
The wire is close to 1/2" on the connecter side. A strong solder myth says to use 1/4" overlap of wires to achieve a strong connection.
Do the pins inside the connector come out, undone?
I could desolder and solder it back together, loosing about an 1" cable length, is the cable long enough to loose the 1" and still reach the socket?

The pins can be extracted from the connector housing if you have a fine enough pick to reach in. There's little tabs that come out of the side of the pin, that catch on the housing when you push them in. I've also had success with a small needlenose pliers.
you could then get new generic pins from the local radio shack, solder them to the wire you've got, and reassemble. It would be about 3/4" shorter than stock, but is that a problem?
