Tonite while my wife was driving the S80 she noticed the turn signal light still flashing after making a right hand turn. It would not turn off at all no matter which way the turn signal stalk was rotated. She also noticed that all the buttons on the steering wheel including cruise and the stereo controls would no longer function. In addition the controls on the turn signal stalk to display the computer and trip messages (including the reset button) would not function.
Soon after noting these things, the red triangle warning light came on with the message "Stop safely and restart". She did, but nothing changed after re-starting. After driving the car home and letting it sit for a while the symptoms still exist. I tried all that I know to do including checking and pulling all the fuses....
Do we have a computer malfunction here???
Anyone have a clue on this or experienced similar problems. The car has driven like a dream lately since replacing the air mass meter and still drives great... Please reply. Thanks.

your turn signal is not cancelling due to mechanical problem. Could be your turn signal switch or the ring retainer behind the steering wheel. As far as all the buttons on your steering wheel not working, you might have a bad steering wheel module. What you can do for right now is reset the steering wheel module by disconnect and reconnect the steering wheel moduld fuse (drivers side dash fuse panell)

Thanks Dave for your kind advice.
I will try that today since I have only reset the fuses under the hood up to this point.
When trying the car again last night, I now have no activity at all from the turn signal stalk or from the electronics on the steering wheel (cruise, radio buttons, etc.) The horn does work. The emergency flashers do work.
Any other ideas from anyone?
Thanks.

Dave,
Your insight has corrected the problem for now. Thanks much!
I removed the end plate on the drivers side dash and pulled and re-seated fuse #21 and #22. Both fuses were ok. After re-seating them - the problems all went away...
I now have full use of the turn signals, the flashers work again, along with the cruise control and radio buttons on the steering wheel.
How about that... I am still leary that the problem might appear again down the line but for right now we have found the solution.

I had the same thing happen to me also a few months back. We were just around the corner from our destination when it happened. After being away from the car for about 3-4 hours the problem disappeared. I'm wary of it happening again though.

I have just experienced the same problem. Either constant turn signal that wont go off or no turn signals at all. Remove and replace fuses as listed in this thread work but the problem comes back aftr a month or so. Anyone, know how to fix this for good?
