1998 S70 T5 OBDII Recommendation

Section so I am posting here. Need recommendation(s) for a feature rich but inexpensive OBDII for my 98 S70 and 2 Hondas (2002 CRV, 2003 Odyssey) under $50. Thanks.

ELM327 bluetooth dongle ($10 delivered on ebay) and Torque Pro ($4.99 on google play store). You need a bluetooth-enabled android phone or tablet for this. There are other ELM327 devices that work with a cable and XP computers, but I have no personal experience with them.

I was poking around the other day. The ELM 327 is the critical piece. If you want to run something on a laptop, get both flavors, usb and bluetooth. After that there looks to be some decent software available for windows platforms. I used to use something called Scan Tool. They still exist, but there's no free software available anymore and they tend to be expensive.

Just received an used HTC Thunder Bolt from a friend. First smart phone due to not wanting to wear glasses

. Yeh, still using a larger button mobile for calls only

The Torque software will work fine with the Thunderbolt, I would suggest you update the OS of the phone first so it is running Android 4,0,4 which was the last OS released for this phone - Mike

Thanks Mike. Can I do this without having a Carrier at this time but I can get on the web with Wifi? Just started playing with it.

You should be fine with it over WiFi to download and install updates and the Torque app - Mike
