bumpy ride
I recently bought an 01 S60 and at first I thought it was a great ride, mostly because I was changing over from an old pickup truck. After a while, and especially after driving an A4 for a while it really seems as though this is a rough ride, especially when it comes to bumps on the road. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, maybe it could be bad shocks, over inflated tires, bad tires, or any other number of things. I wasnt sure if these were common problems for these cars around 40K.

My S60 is '02 2.4T w/40k mi running 235/45/17 Pirellis. the ride is rough/stiff and the tires develop flat spots overnite esp. in cold weather. Garaging helps. Flat spotting seems to be function of tire sizing, temp. and also Pirellis bad to flat spot. Experimenting, raising psi from 30 to 38psi helped, to 44 helps more but of course ride gets pretty rough. Settled out at 40 psi. Pmax on this tire size is 51 psi I believe.
Test drove 16" wheeled S60, rides better, more sidewall for shock absorption without noticeable flat spotting at conventional 32-35 psi. Am not an aggressive driver so the 17's are more a nusiance than asset for my driving style. Plan to buy good used set of 16" Volvo alloys for my car and install Michelins for wintertime then wear Pirellis out next summer.
Hope this helps.
