1999 - S70 - CR-905 AUX Input - How do you do it?

Post by aehammarstrom »

Hello everybody,

This is my first post so I excuse myself in advance if I leave out any information that is needed. My question to you folks is.. Is there anyone that has done a AUX Input hack on a CR-905 Stereo? I saw that some of you actually wrote that you HAVE done the hack but left out any information on how you did it. It would be much obliged if I can get my hands on some intructions for this :)

No such a radio as a 905
It's either an SC 813-816 or a 901 Dolby center channel unit and there is no aux output on any of them.
You need a converter unit, such as a USA SPEC PA HON 11, a Grom or others.
There should be plenty of them available used and it will save you HOURS and not trying to hack up a radio.

I've heard it's been done but why do it when you can get a converter unit, works out of the CD changer port.

Also for $100-$200 you can buy a MUCH BETTER stereo with everything you want included

In North America. Please think before typing.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Huh, no such radio? What am I holding in my hand now then? See picture below. You're confusing me :)
This is exactly the same radio as the pictures above aswell. Im not searching for a converter or a new unit. There has been modifications to several CR-xxx radios where you open it up yourself and solder an aux cable into place.

I suspect the CR-905 setup is similar to SC-815 or SC-816 series.
The only way to find out is to do it yourself.

Couple points:
- Remove Radio (make sure you have the code first)
- Open it to see the circuit board.
- In the post below I made the corrections to the original post, so if you do exactly as in my posts, you will get the correct terminals:

Obviously a Euro radio, never seen that, you learn something every day, but
I wonder why they had totally different cassette radios for the same year and model?
Obviously a "better" unit being Dolby but I still wonder why.
