98 S70 na Leak in radiator after sitting three weeks

Post by Raycharles90 »

Hey everyone,

Came back from abroad and started up my S70 to make sure everything good to go after sitting for a few weeks. Everything seemed fine until I stuck my head back inside and saw the coolant light illuminated. I have not had any issues with this in the 6 years I have owned the car. Popped the hood and saw a fairly constant drip of coolant about 3/4 up on the passenger side of the radiator.

From what I have gleamed from the forum, I shouldn't mess around with any stop leak product but just put in a new radiator. Is this the consensus? I see FCP has them at $115 and I have been happy with them in the past. I also see they have a video detailing the process. For those you have done a replacement, is it an hour or two of work? Also, have you found the need to purchase new rings and clamps ($30 for a couple rings and clamps seems a bit steep)?

Any tips would be appreciated. I really can't get to this for maybe a week or so, but luckily here in NOLA with carnival season you can't drive anywhere anyway.

P.S. Has FCP discontinued their monthly loyalty discounts?

Thanks

No stop leak please. Also sold under the " replace head" brand.

New radiator with normal aspirated engine isn't too bad a job, a lot easier than turbo.
