1997 850 Electric Antenna Stuck

Hi, I still have the original Volvo stereo and in the last week my antenna quit working. I can hear the motor hum but nothing happens. What would I need to fix this and where might I get it? Thanks!

Get it to come out and clean/lube it. I think volvo recomends WD-40.

Ok, now it is stuck completely up, so are you saying I need to go through the trunk and take it out and clean it?

Sounds like your antenna zip cord has broken. You can get one from the dealer for $70 or from www.iPdUSA.com or www.FCPEuro.com for $15. You can likely find on one eBay as well.

I leave my antenna retracted down.
Disconnected the connector to disable the up/down motor.
AM FM reception is good as usual.

The only time you need the antenna up is: you live far away from city and need that extra signal.

I can't get the antenna down AND now the motor even quit humming. Darn.
