2004 xc90 WTF why does this thing suck so bad?
So, my other post I stated I had an oil leak. Well, here it goes. After all is said and done I had to replace both the intake and exhaust rear cam seals, exhaust front cam seal, exhaust vvt hub, reseal cam cover(twice), replace both vvt solenoids & gaskets, and reseal oil pan (leak was from below the crank). I did some of the work myself... which sucked!!!! I am just wondering if anyone else had this bad of an issue... btw my xc90 has 92000 miles on it...just waiting for the tranny to go. Oh, also my antiskid warning came on and my wipers/sunroof were demon possessed (due to corroded connection because of clogged drain in the sunroof). Everything is fixed except now my passenger fog light is inop, and yes I changed the bulb.

Just wondering if you were the only owner or if records indicate the standard factory recommended oil changes of approximately 9,000 miles throughout this vehicle's life which can seriously block the PCV system and cause crankcase pressure resulting in blown seals.
Was synthetic oil used and what were oil change intervals throughout its life?
If PCV is blocked (and you are a candidate at this mileage) you should look into this and perform a PCV service as preventative maintenance. Is this a 5 or 6 cylinder?

I am like the fourth owner of the car. I don't know about the oil change intervals but the day I got it I changed the oil and used Castrol gtx synthetic blend. I did a pcv check with a nitrile glove over the oil filler and I got great suction on the glove. I have the 6 cyl. How much does a pcv service cost? the dealer charges $150/hr labor and indie shop is at $130/hr.

The history doesn't indicate maintenance, but it does show that 2 dealerships inspected the vehicle, once in 2011 (changed master break cylinder)and another in 2013...both were good.
