02 v70 mk2 auto petrol engine wont start

Hi everyone even more probs with the p2 v70. I drove the car yesterday and it performed normally. When i got into the car today and it fired up and ran for about ten seconds then cut out. The battery is fine i can hear the fuel pump and starter motor.
It does everything but fire into life, does anyone have any ideas as to what may be the problem.
One thing that i am currently having a problem with is a intermittant DIM, all dash lit up one minute then goes off for a while then back on. Would this have anything to do with the car now not starting.
Sorry if i havnt explained it correctly but i am desperate to remedy this problem.
