Back story/info-- I found a fuel filter that I had misplaced and put it in. Drove around to do some errands. Parked car for a couple of hours...... Went to start and it wouldn't, just cranked. Popped hood to check around. Found that no 4 plug wire at the cap was fried/corroded and not on tight. Pulled out my spare parts and replaced cap/rotor/wires. Still no start. Checked for spark. Not at plugs and then not at coil to dist. I have fuel pressure (pressing valve at fuel rail) and can smell fuel after cranking. I'm guessing its coil/cam/crank sensor.
I have read some posts about testing the sensors and am not sure if I'm doing it correctly. My neighbor is an electrical guru and I will try to ask for advice how to test. Not sure how/where to put test pin in/on wires. Is there a post that walks one through this. With pics and words for the slow?
I need the car back on the road. I was thinking of going to the wrecking yard and pulling a few to take home to try? Thoughts
Thanks

Any CEL codes? If you have an ohm meter you can check the coil. Primary (12V) side should be something like 8-50 ohms and secondary (HV Spark Plug side) should be up around a couple thousand ohms. If either side reads infinite ohms, the coil is bad.

Was there a CEL before it stopped running? Get codes and go from there.
