98 v70 t5 e-brake shoes

Post by volvomadness »

I have done a couple of these in the past this is why i am at my wits end.

e-brake shoes are attach with the bottom spring, making sure bottom ebrake cable gizmo is in the shoe notches. Everything looks good.

When I place the top adjuster in , which is fully depressed, the shoes are expanded to much and can't get the rotor on. The rotor fits no problem without the adjuster.

Any thoughts would be helpful

When I did my 99 I found there were two part numbers for shoes. One was too large

Compare new part to old part for correct radius.

I had the same problem, I used my bench grinder to remove 1mm off them on each pad; otherwise they would not fit.

I purchased 3 sets of e-brake shoes from one of our favorite vendors because the price was too good to be true. Guess which brand ? Yes, that's right - Scantech - part # 40.347.02 (REF. 3516881) Definitely too big to fit inside of new rotors or even old ones that have the wear-induced lip. Guessing they will work with a rotor that has had the E-brake drum turned or perhaps a DIY lip grind. Tried 3 different brands of new & used rotors before deducing it was the shoes ...
