1994 Volvo 850 Headliner Material

Post by Baptiste1106 »

Anyone know of a local auto upholstery within the NYC area or online auto upholstery wholesaler ? My headliner is beyond a need of replacing :? :? :? :?. Some qouted me at $385 material/labor headliner, is that good? I'm a DIY and refuse to pay someone else $385 to adhear headliner especially when i did a stage 0, pcv, timing belt, serpentine belt, coolant flush, thermostat, motor mounts, poly torque mount all by myself thanks to the DIY resources on MVS and all other Volvo forum sites

I redid the headliner on my 745 a few years ago.
I bought the headliner fabric from JoAnn Fabrics. There are a bunch of them in CT, don't know if they're a chain, but you appear to be in NY, so maybe there is one close.
It wasn't a 100% color match, but it was real close. And I doubt anyone would ever notice the shade difference. It was very reasonably priced.

I redid my headliner in December and finally installed it back into my car a few weeks ago.

As mentioned, JoAnn Fabrics is a good source, I got my material from there. I bought 4 yards of the tan headliner material (foam backed), 3 for the main board and 1 for the sun shade.

joann is a chain. should find somewhere on LI if not in Crooklyn. not expensive per yard. if memory serves got more than enough to do a wagon for less than fifty bucks. the proper adhesive was somewhat expensive, however.

Another +1 on JoAnn fabrics as well. If your car is a sedan (as mine is), I bought 3 yards of the tan foam backed headliner material others have mentioned. I used way less than 3 yards so I had some leftover to do the sunshade if I wanted. The colors nearly matched the factory pieces that I couldn't tell much of a difference.

I got 4 yards for $40ish dollars. The sun shade is really easy to do, it seems almost a waste not to do it as well when you've already gone through all of the trouble to remove the rest of the headliner.

Do a google search to find a JoAnn near you.

I found a joann fabric in Westbury NY right where I live. So to get this correct, 3-4 yards of headliner from joann fabrics and do they sell the adhesive aerosol can ?
