Great Independent Volvo mechanic - Santa Monica, CA

Post by bassbunny5 »

I'm new to Volvo's and got myself a 2004 XC90 T6 (yes, the dreaded T6) back in February. Came through a reliable source and with only 46K. I'm keeping an eye on things for the transmission.

Just a mere two weeks after I got the car, we got a torrential downpour of rain in Southern California and as I'm driving along, I hear this gurgle-gurlge of water down the windshield column on the passsenger side and a swish of water inside the car. Yep - got hit with the clogged sunroof drain and a ton of water was getting in the car. I took it to Nino's Volvo Express who lives just a few blocks from my apartment. He had awesome reviews on Yelp. He was the former shop manager for Santa Monica Volvo dealership -- had been there for 30 years. Then the family-owned business was sold to a corporation, business practices got shady and he split to open his own shop. Great guy who knows Volvo's and super fair and reasonable.

I rolled up with my problem - they cleaned out the sunroof drain, removed my entire floor on passenger side and sucked up the BUCKET of water that was sloshing around down there. I took the floor home with me. It two weeks to dry out and I brought it back to Nino who popped it back in for me. He only charged me $65 buckaroos for this. I've heard horror stories where the dealership will charge anywhere from $300-$600. Nino rocks and if you're in the area, I highly recommend him.
