2001 v70 can't get tcm in adaptive mode

Post by tonykirt72 »

I'm having trouble getting tcm into adaption mode, have gone into the tcm advanced tab on vida but could only find option to reset tcm adaptives, have tried that but nothing happened, I drove the car round after to warm fluid up but from what I've read it should say on dim that it's in adaptive mode and orange triangle should flash when it does a good gear change, none of this happened, anyone know how to get into adaptive mode, thanks

When adaptive mode begins the DIM reads oil temp high or low (can't remember which) Also the gears will be shown as each one is cycled through. For example when car starts off it says 1 then 2 then 3 on dash etc.

When entering adaptive mode press the VCT2000 icon to enter then Vida should guide you. Don't switch off engine or else adaptive mode ends.

I believe menu is in Activations but I could be wrong as it was a couple of months ago when I did mine.

The option is only available with the updated TCM FW. You may need to contact the stealership and cut a deal, they may update you for free (sometimes :D

You might as well ask the Tech to put the TCM in adaptive mode after the update, and then leave it on so you can do the adaptations while driving back home.

Also, note that while in Adaptive Mode the DIM actually says 'Transmission Oil Too Hot' - don't be fooled by that.
Cheers!
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.

Vida has the Menu regardless of TCM firmware which is fitted.

Once you press the VCT2000 symbol if the firmware is not present Vida will report a table of firmware numbers that you require for adaptation with the TCM.

This is not the case with the OP; he just can't get into it. Most inexperienced users press CONTINUE instead of the VCT2000 symbol

Yes,
VIDA's menus and navigation are independent of the TCM FW version, however the TCM's response to navigation requests is. That's why in the Adapt Mode Dialogue Box there is a message in bold 'In order to perform the adaptation, the TCM must have a required FW level'

You will be able to get in now.
