1988 240 mass air flow sensor

My 240 will not run with the MAF sensor connected to the harness. When I disconnect it, the car will run OK, but the minute I reconnect it, it dies. Does this mean that it is definitely the MAF sensor or are there other components (ie temp sensor etc) that indirectly affect the CPU via the MAP sensor?

I think you need a maf. I bought two used ones from www.car-part.com
go to the page with the asterisk for the best price. I paid $20 each. When you unplug the maf it puts the computer in limp home mode it will run but not very well. It is setting ignition and injector pulse based on throttle pos sensor. I would not run it very long like that.
